Staying true to our values, our chapter’s goal for its members is to build them up and help our brothers to flourish after university, while preserving our core values of Brotherhood, Unity, Service, Integrity, and Knowledge. The goal of Alpha Kappa Psi has been to promote the welfare of our brothers, especially in the fields of business, and I am proud to say that our brotherhood has accomplished all of this and more. Since becoming a member, I have learned what it takes to be a mentor, a leader, and an active member of my community. I’m proud to be president of a brotherhood that lifts its members up and pushes them to grow as students and leaders. Whether by chance or by fate, Alpha Kappa Psi provided me all of these and more, as I found myself becoming an active and thriving member during the Spring 2021 semester. I also wanted to get a leg up on preparing for my future career, and prepare myself for what awaited me after college. I wanted to have the classic “college experience,” entailing of lifelong friends and being away from the home I was so used to. While being a student during the pandemic was an unfulfilling first-time experience, Alpha Kappa Psi provided me a community of people who helped me obtain my goals. Little did I know that I would gain all of that and more by being a part of Alpha Kappa Psi’s Psi Kappa Chapter at SFSU. There were three goals in mind: 1) build up my confidence in myself, 2) build up my resume for future job opportunities, and 3) surround myself with people who were as passionate about their future as I was of mine.
